Joe
Berkman, Boat Builder & Founder
Joe founded the company in 2002. Joe comes
from a storied boat building history and tradition. Joe
began to craft his boat building trade working under
Master Builders Mark Lindsay and Dale Shipwright. In
the early years, he was building custom racing sailboats
and rudders for Americas Cup boats and Olympic racing
boats during the same time period. After 25
years of building sail boats, Joe decided he wanted
to break out on his own and build the best twenty-foot
center console he could. Joe’s passion
for the Gloucester 20 comes from a love of light
tackle small boat fishing; something he enjoys on
his rare days off.
Bob Blair, Partner
Bob joined Joe in mid 2002. Bob met Joe
when he needed a skilled boat craftsman to make
some modifications to his pilot boat. Bob is currently
the harbor pilot for Gloucester and Salem and holds
his U.S. Coast Guard Master / First Class Pilot
and Any Gross Ton license. Bob’s passion
for Gboats comes from his lifetime of experience
on boats and rooted in the commercial marine world. His
influences on the G-20 can be seen in her commercial
grade hatches and hardware. In his spare time
Bob enjoys ripping around Gloucester Harbor and
the Essex River in a G-20. He can also be
seen in his ocean scull rowing around Cape Ann.
Chris Walsh, General Manager
After seeing the Gloucester 20 at a boat show,
it was not long before Chris new he wanted to be
a part of the Gboats future. Chris came on
board in the summer of 2006. Before Gboats,
Chris was the Assistant General Manager at Marina
Bay in Quincy, MA. Chris brings a wealth of
customer service and management skill to the team. Chris
received his degree from Wesleyan University in
Middletown, CT and has been in the marine industry
ever since. In his free time he chases Stripers
around Boston Harbor.
Mike Fein, Partner
Mike also came on in the summer of 2006. Mike
comes from a background with Clarkston Consulting,
a consumer products and technology firm. With a
decade of consulting experience and an exceptional
entrepreneurial spirit, Mike will be instrumental
in leading Gboats into the future. Mike grew
up on his fathers Bertram running out of Falmouth
Harbor, MA and fishing the prime grounds of Martha’s
Vineyard and Nantucket. Mike can be found
out at Stellwagon Bank “Tuna-Wishing” on
his days off.
